School history
Our school is steeped in history. Our main building pre-dates 1785 and during World War II it was home to Winston Churchill's daughter, Mary Soames (1939-1945); it was then opened in 1948 as the White House Preparatory School.
In 2014 a new life was brought to it by a group of parents who founded today's Evendons (as part of the free schools programme) and named it ‘Evendons Primary School’.
Our school was set up as STEM school (science, technology, engineering and maths) because Wokingham is in the heart of the UK Silicon Valley, and is viewed as one of the most economically vibrant and well connected communities in the UK. The Silicon Valley is home to some of the world’s most successful global tech brands such as Microsoft, Oracle, Vodafone, Deloitte, Adobe, Sisco and 3M.
The new school building was completed in January 2018, with an extension added in 2024 to accommodate the growing numbers of families wanting to have their children educated at Evendons.
